As for potential tough topics, Cid only has one:
Though the only game likes to remind people of it briefly before immediately moving on from the subject, Cid has massive PTSD over a handful of related subjects. Cid is deeply traumatized about things that involve Bahamut and the Calamity that nearly ended the world, but he’s very unlikely to ever bring it up unprompted. The gist is that his research went into weaponizing the lesser, and artificial, moon known as Dalamud. Nobody at the time knew there was a giant pissed off dragon god in it at the time, but they sure know about it now.
The other deeply traumatizing point is that his father, while enslaved by Bahamut, shot him during a confrontation. Like with the Calamity, Cid is very unlikely to ever bring this up unprompted.
If you'd rather I avoid hinting at his PTSD, or him bringing it up, just let me know. You also have the option to opt-out of him entirely, if you'd prefer.
